Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community located in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. The West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar with its meaning. Many people believe that it's an island to the west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island, although it's not the case. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, however a rapid growth rate resulted in her outgrowing the dancers she was with. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. As soon as I outgrew the size of my male friends, I stopped. Former dancers often turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion by her teacher of drama. The teacher encouraged her to take part in an audition in a school production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the main character of Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Over the past 20 years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been varied. Her role as Rita from the award winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
